Scenario:  Tama, Mere and Tahi are going.  Whaea goes to tell Koro that they will go.  She says "E Koro, Ka haere rātou" which means "Koro, they (3 or more people) will go."  Koro knows that Whaea is talking about Tama, Mere and Tahi because she used the exclusive of listener and speaker pronoun for 3 or more people rātou.
